When searching for string of pearls propogation I found your youtube video. Fava beans pair perfectly with fresh English peas, green beans, and radicchio, for a beautiful upgrade on the standard green salad, served warm with a light and creamy lemon vinaigrette.
I thought my SOP was going really well until I went to the nursery today and saw another SOP which had bigger pearls and way greener/lusher looking pearls than my SOP! I live in Florida, near the Gainesville area. It’s nice that your String Of Pearls has had longevity. Many thanks! I lived in So Cal from many years & saw many SOP plants at many nurseries.
Any ideas on how to help it recover?
When I moved to Santa Barbara, quite a few pots had been left behind at my new home by the previous owner so I zoomed in on one of them for a String of Pearls. It’s too bad that almost no field pea looks as lovely after it is cooked! A few minutes on the stove prove that fresh peas are easy to cook and even easier to eat. Just make sure to put the pearl in the soil stem end down. Mine grow in bright shade. I associate sweet peas with my grandmother who lived to 92. Root them in a very loose mix. It’s kind of the lazy way to do it but I found for me it’s much more successful. Is your market carrying green dragon

Just know that SOP can burn in a matter of an hour. Spring & summer are the best time for taking cuttings because plants need to rest in the winter. Hi Dian – SOP likes bright light but not no direct hot sun outdoors. This is simple to do.
The outlier of the field pea world is the yard bean, sometimes called yard-long beans.
