Leonyl Ortiz Gonzalez

Director of PromoExport at the Department of Economic Development and Commerce in Puerto Rico
With over 20 years of experience, Mr. Leonyl Ortiz-González has played a pivotal role in supporting and advising small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Puerto Rico, helping them achieve their full potential locally and internationally.
Currently, he is the director of the PromoExport division of the Trade and Export Program at the Department of Economic Development and Commerce (DEDC) in Puerto Rico. Additionally, Mr. Ortiz directs the Puerto Rico State Trade Export Program (PR-STEP), a federal initiative under the Small Business Administration that promotes the exports of SMEs.
Throughout his career, he has contributed to various export-oriented publications, spent over 15 years as a university professor of business administration, and owned his own business.
In 2002, Leonyl earned his first Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing and International Business from the University of Puerto Rico, where he was recognized as the top achiever in Marketing. Additionally, in 2007, achieved a second MBA from New Orleans University.
Since July 1, 2024, he has served as an at-large board member of the State International Development Organization (SIDO).
